Class 4, Assignment 2b: OpenSim Navigation

This is where I chose to explore a small space.

The image on the left shows the initial view becoming blocked by walls in tight quarters.   The image on the right is first person view, which makes navigating somewhat easier.

This image shows the manual camera options (upper left).  These options allows you to reorient the camera position, angles, and zoom to get a better look at your surroundings.

This image shows the necessary tool boxes and options used for teleporting out of cramped space, or if one was to get lost.  The box opened on the left is the history of places I've visited so far in OSgrid.  I can return to any of those zones at any time.  The scrolling wheel in the center of the screen highlights the "teleport here" command.  This would move my avatar forward to the selected spot instantly if pressed.  This function is helpful if you want to skip a lot of ground on a map and jump towards something or someone interesting.


Class 4, Assignment 2a: OpenSim Appearance




















         
          The images above all depict different examples of appearance changes available in OSgrid.  I started simply changing clothes, then I imported a pre-made alien outfit and really messed around with inventory items and customization.  I experimented with body thickness, facial features, skin tint/tone, more outfits, and animations.  Personally, I found the OSgrid interface slightly clunky and non-intuitive.  Having to switch between equipped inventory items/skins and then editing appearance was a pain.

The images above were taken as I was constructing my avatar in OSgrid.   Initially I chose the "Ginger Punk" avatar stock model.  I then messed around with various feature settings and outfits until I was able to build an avatar I liked.

Class 3, Assignment 5: OpenSim Rocket

The above images depict four angles of a rocket built using Primitive Objects.  Texture and color was applied to four objects: a cylinder, a ring, a cone, and a pyramid, in order to achieve this effect.  This model rocket was built in OSgrid

The above screenshots indicate four different configurations of  Primitive Object building.  In this case, a Cone, a Sphere, and a Box.  These builds were created in OSgrid

Class 3, Assignment 3: OpenSim Fundamentals

OSgrid using Kokua viewer:

Pictured above are steps A, B, and C from the lecture notes.  Labels have been placed in the screenshots to highlight important information regarding chat windows and functionality.  This was accomplished in OSgrid using the Kokua viewer.
The above images depict steps D, and E from the lecture notes.  Various camera angles and perspectives are shown, including: zooming all the way in to a first-person perspective, zooming all the way out, and angling the point of view up.  This was accomplished using OSgrid.
"F" is for Flying!  The above images depict an avatar rising into the air, flying around, and then falling back to the ground once the "stop flying" button has been pressed.  This was performed in OSgrid.
The above images cover step G in the lecture notes.  At first the minimap is enabled (upper left), then it is resized to be larger (upper right), and lastly it is shown zoomed in to a specific point (bottom).  This was accomplished using OSgrid.
(H - I)  I was unable to located another individual while I was doing this portion of the assignment despite visiting multiple zones.  However through chat channels and menus displayed above, I demonstrate how one would be able to socially teleport other players.  This interface is shown in OSgrid using the Kokua viewer.
